The Weather was sunny, the hospitality and welcome superb. The Torquay Conference Committee was congratulated on the warmth and friendliness of the occassion. If you have never experienced one of these Conferences then you should. You would be in for a treat. Well done to you all.
My two Tangent Clubs, Taunton and Weston-super-Mare excelled themselves at the A.G.M. and I shall sort them both out at a later date!
The new Tangent car was duly delivered. Guess who got a ticket within five minutes of it being left in the car park. Neither the delivery driver nor myself realised we had to pay for a ticket. Anyway it was soon sorted out by Hyundai.
Next year, Conference will be at Southport, a fabulous venue, don’t forget to book early.
It is always a sad occasion when you have to say goodbye to your Exec members . Jan and Janis it has been wonderful working with you both and you will be sorely missed.
Now we start a new year and it is still sinking in that I am now National President and I thank you all for all your good wishes. I have been inundated with cards. I am very proud to be representing this wonderful organisation. The new Exec are all prepared and ready to go and we shall look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. We have the best interests of the Association at heart and are here to assist in any way we can.
For the first time Round Table, 41 Club and Tangent are amalgamating together to do a joint Charity. Unfortunately Ladies Circle has already appointed their Charity but are willing to work alongside of us. The Air Ambulance is a wonderful organisation and has saved many lives with their prompt action, unhindered by distance, poor road conditions, terrain or traffic congestion. I realise that we say that we are not a fund raising organisation but I know that a lot of you do raise funds. Please God that we never have to use them but just in case give generously. Anything raised can be given to your nearest centre but please tell me how much you have passed on. Their boundary line is up to the Scottish Border, The ScottishAir Ambulance is state supported and for that reason my Second Charity is the Scottish Sea Bird Centre.
Yes, as you can guess, my theme for the year is COME FLY WITH ME.
Now that we are working together there will be a joint Presidents Ball to be held at St. Andrews , Scotland, 13 – 15 June. For details and how to book telephone Troon 41 Club on 07841 675657
Also Weston-super-Mare are organising a Charity Ball for Air Ambulance on 14th February 2009, Valentines Night, all welcome. Details on how to book will be in the next issue.
Remember other friendships may come and go but Tangents last for ever.
